For the World Talent Cup, our participants are divided into development teams with 15 players and 2 goalkeepers per team. They then develop together through both training and tournament games and other training that is part of the World Talent Cup.
During the first days of the camp our participants are trained with a focus on individual development and technique based on Selected Players’ specially adapted training program KeyTraining. The program is methodically designed to effectively strengthen all individual fundamental techniques required to become a world-class player or goalkeeper. All technique sessions are hosted by Swedish instructors who are trained and certified by Selected Player
During the latter part of the camp, games and tournament games are included so that our participants can practice and develop what we trained and went through before the tournament. There are five tournament games per group including playoffs/placement games. We hire real referees from local associations as we want the games to maintain as high a level of assessment as possible. Game sessions, training games and tournament games are led by each team’s own coaches who are all recruited by Selected Player.
As the WTC is intense with many training sessions and tournament games, the physical training will be about quality physical training. We ensure that participants can and do perform important physical, speed and mobility training that a floorball player needs to develop and build and which is important to reach their full potential.
Goalkeepers receive comprehensive training that builds up their entire goalkeeping game. The training sessions consist of both separate training sessions with shooters and technique training together with their development group/team. As part of the methodology, the goalkeeper instructors use video analysis to highlight important details and as a tool to help the goalkeepers reach the next level. All other training and meals are provided to the goalkeepers together with their team. All goalkeeper sessions are held by Swedish goalkeeper instructors who are trained and certified by Selected Player.
Building a sense of belonging and togetherness in the development groups is an important part of the training in the WTC. Building the important ”inside” of each player is important as well. Here, we focus on getting the participants to get to know each other with exercises that also build each individual’s self-esteem and self-confidence and develop team spirit.
Something our participants and their parents greatly appreciate are the friendships built during the WTC. The participants gain a valuable network by getting to know players from their own and other floorball countries, something they benefit from for the rest of their lives.
We train, play tournament games and complete other training sessions in the fantastic IFU Arena with five full-sized courts under the same roof. Lunch, dinner and evening meals are served in the Arena kitchen. Both the opening and the closing ceremony for the WTC are held in the main arena.
As a participant in the WTC, you stay at the four-star Arenahotellet or Scandic Nord, which is within walking distance of IFU Arena. The players live together with other players in their development group/team in 3-bed and 4-bed rooms.
During the cup there will be an information center in the IFU Arena where you are welcome to get answers to any questions or concerns. There will also be a responsible country manager for each country to answer questions from parents and other fellow travelers.
Medical care on site
For the safety of the participants, we have our own medical staff on site who take care of minor injuries. We are in close contact with the Uppsala Hospital and nearby care centers should more serious injuries occur.
